2016 Rio Olympics beach volleyball: USA & Brazil suffer first losses in tourney

The USA and Brazil team suffered their first losses in the 2016 Rio Olympics beach volleyball tournament. This came in Day 2 of the beach volleyball event in Rio.

First, the USA team were beaten in the Women’s tourney by Poland.

The result is a close one in which they lost by two sets to one, 21-14, 13-21, 7-15. This US team is led by Lauren Fendrick and Brooke Sweat. The Americans started strong by winning the first set of the match.

However, things fell apart when they entered the second and third sets. The momentum that Poland got from the second set sparked the comeback win for them. The Polish team is represented by Kinga Kolosinska and Monika Brzostek.

The other pair of the Americans in the Women’s division routed Australia by a score of 21-14, 21-13. The second representative of the United States features Kerri Walsh and April Ross. They won over their Australian competitors, Mariafe del Solar and Nicole Laird.

Moreover, the USA Men’s team continued their winning streak.

The team is led by Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena. They won over Tunisia with another lopsided score of 21-7, 21-13. The Tunisians are represented by Mohamed Naceur and Choaib Salah. The other USA Men’s pairing features Americans Jake Gibb and Casey Patterson. They defeated Qatar in day one.

Second, the Brazilian Men’s team for the 2016 Rio Olympics beach volleyball has also suffered a defeat. This happened on day two in the hands of Cuba. The Brazil team is represented by Evandro Goncalves and Pedro Salgado. Cuba won in a thrilling three sets victory over the tough Brazil squad. The Cubans are led by Nivaldo Diaz Gomez and Sergio Gonzalez Bayard.

The Brazilians started their campaign on a winning note over Canada. This game is actually a close one with a score of 21-19, 43-39. The team is led by Alison and Bruno Schmidt, while the Canadians are represented by Josh Binstock and Samuel Schachter.

Unlike the US Women’s team that already tasted defeat, the Brazil team have yet to get one.

The Brazil Women’s team, like the Men’s team, won their first game on day one.

Meanwhile, the Brazil Women’s team is represented by Agatha and Barbara de Freitas. They beat the Czech Republic in a 19-21, 21-17 and 15-11 thrilling score. This is an amazing game since the Czechs started strong by getting the first set of the match.

However, buoyed by the crowd that mostly supports them, Brazil made a comeback in the second set. This proved to be the difference in the outcome of the match as they ultimately won the game. The Czech team is led by Barbora Hermannova and Marketa Slukova.

In the last game of Brazil Women’s team on the day, they won with in two sets over Russia, 21-14, 21-16. This is the other pairing in the Women’s beach volleyball squad of the country. The Brazilians are represented by Talita and Larissa Maestrini, while the Russians are composed by Ekaterina Birlova and Evgenia Ukolova.

There is so much fun in the games of the two countries that are favored to win a gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics beach volleyball tournament.
