2016 Rio Olympics Beach Volleyball/Volleyball Results: USA Team victorious in first day

The USA team is undaunted in their first day victories in volleyball. Whether it be on the sand or on the hard court, they still won.

The men’s beach volleyball team of the United States is represented by Casey Patterson and Jake Gibb and defeated Qatar’s Men’s beach volleyball team of Cherif Younouse and Jefferson Santos.

At the start of the match, the USA team cruised to a first set win of 21-16. But when the second set started, the Qatari pair stayed within striking distance. Then, Patterson took matters into his own hands as he carried his country to the victory. They also won the second set by a score of 21-16.

The beach volleyball match is just the preliminary round between the two countries. The next game of the men’s beach volleyball team of United States would happen on August 8 against Austria.

Meanwhile, the USA Women’s volleyball team has also dominated their first match. It happened when they beaten the Puerto Rico Women’s volleyball team. The Americans won their first set convincingly with a score of 25-17.

But the second set proved to be tough for the USA team. This happened when they trailed  Puerto Ricans at 19-17 in one point. However, the United States were as tough as nails as they squeaked past the opponent at 25-22 to win the set.

Going into the third set, the Americans started slow but overcame the Puerto Ricans once again. They took the set at 25-17 to win the match.

The US Women’s volleyball team was led by Kelly Murphy and Kim Hill with their 14 points apiece. They will be having their next match in the preliminaries against the Netherlands on August 8.
