The Chinese and Japanese Women’s volleyball team bounced back from their opening loss after defeating Italy and Cameroon, respectively in the 2016 Rio Olympics Women’s Volleyball tournament.
The young Chinese squad outlasted the Italian team in straight sets with the score of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-16 to earned its first win in the tournament. China lost its opening game to Netherlands in five thrilling sets.
China used their height against Italy, outscoring them in blocks and in attacks. The faulty errors of the Italians also help them in taking this easy win.
The Extraordinary young outside hitters Zhu Ting and Zhang Changning led the young Chinese team who scored total points of 12 points and 11 points apiece. Xu Yunli also helps team China who have 12 points, 8 from attacks, 3 blocks, and a service ace.
On the other side of the court, faulty errors plagued the Italian team who also losses in their opening match against Serbia. Paola Egonu is the lone bright spot in the Italian team who scored in double digits. She scored a total of 22 points, 19 from attacks, 1 block, and 2 service aces.
Meanwhile, Team Japan also takes their first win after defeating Cameroon, bounced back from an opening loss to South Korea. The Japanese team dominates the Cameroonians in straight sets with the score of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-17.
The Japanese squad used their solid floor defense and strong service to outlasted the Cameroon team who also lose their opening game against the defending Olympic champions Brazil.
Team Captain Saori Kimura and Miyu Nagaoka led the Japanese team who scored a total of 13 points and 16 points apiece. Yuki Ishii also helps the team with a total score of 13 points, 11 from attacks, 1 block, and 1 service ace.
Today’s game will also feature the USA versus Netherlands, Serbia vs Puerto Rico, Russia vs South Korea and Brazil versus Argentina. China and Japan, on the other hand, will face Puerto Rico and Brazil, respectively on August 10, 2016.
