It was the third straight win for Spain following a slow start to the 2016 Rio Olympics. They lost to Croatia and Brazil in their first two games while barely escaping Nigeria in their first win. However, Spain has come alive in their final couple games, blowing out Lithuania and Argentina.

On the other hand, The France Men’s National Basketball Team finished the group stages with close 100-97 defeat at the hands of Team USA last Sunday. Thomas Heurtel led France with a near triple-double performance of 18 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.

Reigning Euroleague MVP Nando De Colo added 18 points, four rebounds, five assists and one steal. De Colo expressed his excitement to face their rivals and he wants France to get revenge.

“We’re happy to face them. This will allow us to foresee gaining a measure of revenge against them for 2012 and for last year’s EuroBasket Semi-Final,” De Colo said, via

Spain has the momentum going into the knockout stages following two blowout wins against Lithuania and Argentina. However, France seems to be motivated in getting their revenge and they have a much younger team against Spain. Expect France to advance to the semifinals by beating their rivals in a close game.
