Adam Jones says fan threw a banana at him from stands
Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones said that a fan throw a banana at him from the stands in the bottom of the ninth inning at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
Jones mentioned the incident through twitter and a normally playful Jones was rightfully angry and upset. “I want to thanl whatever slap—- threw that banana towards my direction in CFin the last inning. Way to show ur class u jack—,” Jones tweeted.
Jones also tweeted that this incident and the responses he was receiving could make him leave Twitter saying, “Good chance this means I get off social media soon.”
The racial message that comes from a banana thrown toward an African-American is obvious, so it’s clear why Jones is as upset as he is – it’s a disgusting act. Unfortunately, Giants senior director of media relations Jim Moorehead said that the Giants received no report of anyone throwing anything onto the field in the ninth inning, but the club will look through security footage on Monday, according to the Baltimore Sun. It would be a shame if this clown got away with his actions, so hopefully the tapes reveal something.
As USA Today Sports points out, you can’t buy a bunch of bananas at a baseball game so it’s not like this was the only thing that the person had to throw when he made the decision he wanted to throw something.
