Alex Cobb to be activated from DL, to start Thursday
The Tampa Bay Rays are activating starting pitcher Alex Cobb off the disabled list and will start on Thursday night.
According to MLB.com, Cobb’s start on Thursday will be his first one in nearly two months. His last start was on June 15 against the Kansas City Royals, Cobb was struck in the head with a line drive off the bat of Eric Hosmer.
Cobb was diagnosed with a concussion and was carted off the field on a stretcher.
“I always expected to get rid of all the symptoms,” Cobb said. “The doctors let me know everything was going to be all right after we knew there was no skull fracture or bleeding in the brain on the first night. We knew it was going to be a slow, steady recovery process and once that was over, I would be back to normal.”
According to CBS Sports, the Rays designated Ryan Roberts for assignment to make room for Cobb on the 25 man roster.
Cobb,25 is 6-2 with a 3.01 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 83 2/3 innings this season.
