Bengals cheerleader arrested for sexual relations with student

A high school teacher, who was also a cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals, was arrested for her relationship with a student.

Sarah Jones was indicted Thursday for first-degree sexual abuse and use of electronic means to engage in sexual relations with a minor. Both charges carry a five-year prison sentence.

Jones is listed on as a high school English teacher and has been a cheerleader for five years. She resigned from her post at Dixie Heights High in November.

Her mother, Cheryl, is a principal at a different school and has been indicted with tampering with evidence in her daughter’s case. She also faces five years in prison.

“Sarah has maintained her innocence. The indictment of her mother is completely baseless,” their attorney said in a statement.

The Bengals have not issued a statement.

Jones previously sued for alleging that she had a sexually transmitted disease and for posting a photo of her and Cincinnati Bengals kicker Shayne Graham. Despite her request that the picture be removed, the website posted it  again another six weeks later.

“To stand in front of thirty 15-year-olds and tell them you don’t have two STDs and that you are not a slut is the hardest thing you will ever have to do,” she said.
