Bernard Hopkins retains title
Bernard Hopkins was given the light heavy weight title back after his controversial fight with Chad Dawson was ruled a technical draw.
Hopkins and Dawson squared off at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Saturday and during the fight, Dawson lifted Hopkins off of his feet and tossed him.
Hopkins landed awkwardly on his shoulder and could not perform after the incident and Dawson was ruled the winner of the fight, CBS News reports.
At that time Dawson was ruled the WBC light heavy weight champion due to TKO, but the ruling has been overturned and Hopkins agrees with the decision.
“I feel very happy. I feel that justice was done,” Hopkins told ESPN.com.
As of now the loss remains on Hopkins’ record and the win remains on Dawsons , if and until the California State Athletic Commission overturns it.
The committee is set to have a ruling Dec 13, but Hopkins would like things to move much faster. If not, he is just grateful that everything is going the right way.
