Bills plan to start Jeff Teul in Week 1
The Buffalo Bills plan to start Jeff Teul at quarterback in week one of the regular season against the New England Patriots if E.J Manuel is not ready to play.
According to ESPN.com, Teul will become the first undrafted free agent rookie to start week one of a regular season game since 1967 , which is the year when the NFL and AFL merged.
Teul will be the starter because Bills’ first rounder E.J Manuel had knee surgery and may not be ready for Week one and back up Kevin Kolb is out indefinitely with a concussion that could be career ending.
According to CBS Sports, Bills’ head coach Doug Marrone is hopeful Manuel can participate in the season opener but is preparing for Tuel to start as he works with the first team offense in practice.
The decision to start Teul in place of Manuel comes a day after the Bills signed former first round draft pick Matt Leinart.
Tuel played college football for Washington State and signed with the Bills three months ago to be the third string quarterback.
