Blue Jays sweep Orioles win 11th straight
The Toronto Blue Jays completed their sweep of the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, giving them 11 straight wins.
The Blue Jays dominated Orioles pitcher Freddy Garcia knocking home seven runs in just 2 1/3 innings. Garcia’s final line: seven hits, seven earned runs and he allowed two walks. The Blue Jays went on to beat down the Orioles 13-5. According to The Baltimore Sun, the 13 runs allowed were a season high by the O’s.
The Baltimore Sun also notes the Blue Jays’ top three hitters-Melky Cabrera, Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion-combined to drive in nine runs.
This is just the second time all season the Orioles were swept in a three-game series, and the first on the road, The Sun notes. For the Blue Jays, their 11 wins in a row ties a franchise high, according to The Sports Network.
But hey, it wasn’t all bad for the O’s. Ryan Flaherty homered twice, so that’s a victory in itself for Orioles fans.
The Orioles start a four-game series against the Indians in Cleveland on Monday and the Blue Jays will fly to Tampa to take on the Rays.
