Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao 5 for $30 million? More entertaining than Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather 2

Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao 5 for $30 million? More entertaining than Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather 2

Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has started training for his upcoming bout against Jessie Vargas, making sure it doesn’t run in conflict with his senatorial duties. He confirmed having two more fights in 2017, yet as early as now rumors of Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao 5 are starting to surface.

Boxing experts predict that Jessie Vargas will be an easy foe to conquer come November 5. The Mexican fought soundly against Saddam Ali to win the WBO title, however, the general perception is that he doesn’t stand much of a chance against a boxer of Manny Pacquiao’s caliber.

As we await “Pacman” to finally return in the ring, names of future foes are starting to fall into place.

Naturally, his arch-rival Floyd Mayweather comes in, although at the far end of the list in a last hurrah for them both.

Floyd Mayweather retired after fighting Andre Berto, following the fight of the century, which many view as a major disappointment in spite of its financial success.

If Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather 2 is the ultimate end of Manny’s journey that starts with Jessie Vargas, it would make sense to make Adrien Broner as a preview to that rematch.

Adrien Broner could be in one of those two fights mentioned for 2017.

However, the name of Juan Manuel Marquez is starting to creep in, as if from a rear view mirror.

He’s the only boxer to have knocked out Pacman since 1999 against Medgoen Singsurat of Thailand when Manny was still fighting as a flyweight.

Who could forget that devastating KO Marquez handed Pacman in 2012 that seemed to have disembodied him for a minute lying on the canvas?

Juan Manuel Marquez has denied the Filipino champion the chance for a rematch since his victory. But according to a report by the Fight Saga the Mexican legend may be softening his stance upon the mention of some serious dough.

“I told Freddie the other day, ‘Hey, what about Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 5?’ You should have seen Freddie. He started to get really excited about it because he still wants the fight.”

“He told me that Manny would take that fight in a minute…he would take it right away! They both still want that fight!” JMM’s strength and conditioning coach, Angel “Memo” Heredia said.

“Well…let’s just see what happens. So you never know.” Juan Manuel Marquez said, when Heredia asked him “What if they offered you $30 million for another Pacquiao fight?”

Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao 5 would certainly be more fan-friendly compared to Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather 2, but $30 million seems too much for an asking price. This is something that certainly needs further verification.

Nacho Beristain may have hinted on a Marquez’ retirement, but let’s wait and be amazed at how millions of dollars could work wonders.

Time to start talking more about the younger fighters. Pacquiao, Mayweather, Marquez, were great fighters, but now past their prime. Its unlikely they’ll be fighting top guys any longer. The talk at these weights nowadays should be of guys like Terrance Crawford, Golovkin, Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, Canelo Alvarez, Kell Brook, Errol Spence, etc.

The young guys will have their time to shine. Pac, Floyd may be past their primes but can still beat all those boys mentioned, except for GGG but mainly for weight diff.

Well I guess we’ll see, the Vargas fight is coming up and he’s one of the hot younger fighters. Also I think Thurman and Spence might be able to poke holes in your assessment.
