Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1-1), “The Son of the Legend”, last fought against Marcos Reyes on July 2015, where he hurt his hand that required surgery, and kept him at bay.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. news say he’s looking to sail back into the fray on December 3.
The Son of the Legend began his pro boxing career in 2003 with huge expectations of measuring up to his father, Chavez Sr., who’s not only regarded as the best Mexican boxer of all time, but also one of the greatest of all time.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. remained undefeated for nine years, but mostly fought lesser opposition. He’s had notable fights, such as against Andy Lee, and had an opportunity to shine and grow his fame when he fought Sergio Martinez, but it turn out well, losing by UD, and he tested positive for Cannabis after the fight.
There were rumors too about Chavez Jr.’s work ethic, and not making weight stipulations.
However, he seems excited to get back on track now, and is following a path that may lead to a possible clash with Gennady Golovkin.
Gennady Golovkin is one of today’s most avoided fighters. His team is currently negotiating a fight against Daniel Jacobs on Dec. 10th, but analysts believe this may not materialize due to money issues.
Should this be taken as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. news fight instead?
According to a report by Boxing Scene, Chavez Jr. said, “With me (against Golovkin), I think that I’m the only one who could withstand the punches of Gennady Golovkin. And I think that if I come in there in good condition – I think that I could even knock him out – because everyone already saw how Kell Brook hurt him and I am a much bigger fighter than him.”
“At 168 lbs, it would be a great fight and much more competitive.”
Gennady Golovkin is also looking to make his fight with Canelo Alvarez happen, possibly on September, but both are having financial disputes too, as Canelo Alvarez feels he deserves a bigger share of the pie being the more “popular fighter” and a bigger draw.
No opponent is being brought up yet for Canelo Alvarez next fight.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. feels if Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin happens, the latter will beat him fairly easily; that his power will be too much for Alvarez to take.
“Canelo will be boxing on his legs.” Chavez Jr. said regarding the possible Canelo Alvarez next fight with GGG.
The legend himself Chavez Sr. believes his son can beat Canelo Alvarez, and it will happen sooner or later.
According to a report by Fight News Chavez Sr. said, “He has the skills to beat Canelo and he has the cojones as well.”
