After missing two days of training camp for catching a cold, Manny Pacquiao was reportedly back in the gym with coach Freddie Roach. A couple of days rest seems to have served him well, as he appears to be on the right track, sparring well against undefeated boxer Jose Ramirez.
After sparring with the American, he went on to handle another sparring mate, Leonardo Doronio. According to a report by the Inquirer, Freddie Roach had planned 10 rounds of sparring for Manny Pacquiao, but lessened it to 6 since the scheduled bout with Jessie Vargas has been nearly 4 weeks away.
As usual, Manny appears very able and eager to train, casting out doubts about his ability not just to return, but also excel.
“Sparring went well. Because Ramirez is also fast, there were beautiful exchanges.” A spokesperson said in Manny Pacquiao next fight preparations.
Despite the challenges thrown at him, and Jessie Vargas taunts the Pacman, saying he’d knock him out, very little guesswork seems to be at play regarding the result of this matchup.
One would be hard pressed in finding a handful of experts who completely believe in Jessie Vargas ‘ chances in his Manny Pacquiao next fight.
Meanwhile, across the pond, archrival Juan Manuel Marquez refuses to retire and plans to return in 2017. Boxing rumors go around the possibility of Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao 5.
JMM is 1-2-1 (draw) statistically against the Pacman but has the upper hand of the competition after their last fight with a knockout. Is a final closure being arranged to the rivalry in a Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao 5 bout?
While this sounds very fitting, especially for a retirement bout to settle the score, once and for all, nothing seems concrete at the moment. At least, not yet, even if Pacman beats Jessie Vargas.
Juan Manuel Marquez has been feeling good so far in training with conditioning coach Memo Heredia.
“I want to do everything I can [to get ready]. I don’t want to retire and then return. If the body responds well, we are going to make a comeback, I have the desire to do a retirement fight,” JMM said.
Boxing fans believe this Manny Pacquiao next fight is merely a stepping-stone to his ultimate goal to fight Floyd Mayweather. He may fight once or twice before he hits that pinnacle, to prove his value is still high in the boxing market, and JMM could be one of them.
It’s also no secret that Manny Pacquiao has been longing to avenge his KO loss.
Apart from a possible Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao bout, other fighters rumored in the mix are Adrien Broner and Terence Crawford.
