Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather will fight each other again for the 2015 rematch. However, it all depends on the fans. The audience needs to ask for it and the match will be delivered to them.
Manny delivered a dominating display against Timothy Bradley on Saturday. When it seemed that the world had finally gone over the Mayweather and Pacquiao era, Stephen Espinoza of Showtime Sports mentioned that Floyd is interested in the re-match.
“I thought Pacquiao looked good, looked as good as he has looked in the last three or four years. But really in terms of a Mayweather rematch, it’s really up to the audience, to the fans and the writers.” Espinoza said to Ring TV.
Espinoza highlighted that he had a conversation with Floyd and the 39-year-old will only consider a fight if there is a demand for it. The marketing team will not put the cart before the horse this time and will only act if people are interested.
Manny impressed Espinoza with his last outing against Bradley and the general manager of Showtime Sports believes that the 37-year-old Filipino boxer is at a higher level than what he was last May.
However, the bout’s interest doesn’t completely land on Mayweather’s shoulder. Manny needs to be interested as well. However, the boxer from Kibawe, Bukidnon has already made a firm stance on his retirement citing his family and politics as the reason.
But, the pay-per-view which took place last year in May, broke the records and grossed over $600 million. When such an amount is on the cards, Pacquiao may just go on to convince his family into fighting once more, just for a hefty payday.
The Pacquiao – Mayweather 2 rumor mill has just begun and is unlikely to stop any time soon.
