Mayweather Rumors: Will Manny Pacquiao agree to give Money a nine figure pay cut for a rematch?

During their first meeting Floyd Mayweather listed tons of demands and still Manny Pacquiao agreed to it, now that a pending rematch is on the works will he still agree to give a nine figure pay day for Money to officially get out of retirement.

Mayweather in an interview with Showtime has stated that he will reconsider retirement if he is offered a nine figure payday and he could also take in a nine figure pay day and a championship title that will be worth of him stepping back into the ring. However, he stressed that he is enjoying traveling around and promoting his boxers.

“Yes, I’m happy to be where I’m at. Everyone is asking, asking me, ‘Is Floyd Mayweather coming back?’ Right now, I’m happy on this side [of the ropes], but I’ve been talking with CBS and Showtime and you just never know. But for now, I’m happy on this side. As of right now, you know, some crazy numbers have been thrown my way, upwards of, of course, nine figures. I’m truly blessed, way beyond belief. I don’t know what we’re going to do, but right now, I’m happy being on this side helping fighters,” Mayweather explained.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has stated with ESPN that there is a great possibility that the rematch could happen but could not really tell as to when it will happen, since Pacquiao is still busy with his political career in the Philippines and hoping to get a Senate seat. The Philippine boxing icon has not commented on a possible rematch with Mayweather as he has already announced that he is retired and wants to enjoy it first. But Arum stresses that it would be difficult for either fighters to move on without being tagged with the other.

“If they fight anybody else, there’s going to be that hangover. If they fight each other, people will be attracted to the fight. It won’t do what the last fight did, but it might do 50 percent of the last fight,” Arum said.

Pacquiao overwhelmed Timothy Bradley in their third and final meeting last month and during the post fight interview announced that he is officially retired. Though if given the chance to avenge his loss to Mayweather, he would totally agree with it. However, Pacquiao might undergo another stressful list of demands especially in financial aspect but Pacquiao has always been known to take on challenges just to please his fans, especially when he revealed that he got injured during their first meeting.

During their match, Mayweather received some $600 million with other names being suggested to lure Money out of retirement which includes Gennady Golovkin and Amir Khan, Arum still sees Pacquiao as the right fight for Mayweather not only career wise but financially as well.
