Brandon Davies expected to return to BYU next season

Sophomore forward Brandon Davies has announced to The Salt Lake Tribune that he plans on returning to BYU next season after being dismissed by the team earlier this year for violating BYU’s honor code.

BYU spokesman Carri Jenkins has been talking with the dean of the school to see when Davies can return. He will be allowed to enroll in school in the 2011-2012 season if he meets certain conditions, which were not released to the public.

Davies was the team’s second leading scorer at 11.1 points per game and leading rebounder at 6.2 per game, the Associated Press reports, starting 26 of 29 games. He then sat on the bench the rest of the season watching his fellow teammate Jimmer Fredette lead the Cougars to the Sweet 16.

Davies told The Salt Lake Tribune, “It’s been very hard emotionally but, thanks to the love and support of many, I’ll be able to get through it. There’s a plan in place, and I intend to follow through and return to BYU in the fall. I’m looking forward to coming back…and getting back on the court.”
