Browns trade for John Moffitt

The Cleveland Browns have traded defensive lineman Brian Sanford to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for offensive lineman John Moffitt.

The Browns offensive line has taken a couple hits. Shawn Lauvao and Jason Pinkston have both suffered injuries, according to NFL.com, Lauvao underwent ankle surgery and Pinkston has a high ankle sprain. Both injuries are expected to keep them on the sidelines into the regular season.

According to the Seattle Times, Moffitt started 15 of the 17 games he has been in the last two years  with the Seattle Seahawks, at both guard positions. The Browns hope Moffitt can come in and fill their offensive line needs.

“John’s a tough and versatile lineman who will be in the mix for us upfront,” said Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski, via the team site.

Sanford gives the Seahawks defensive line depth, which they need since they have been dealing with injuries as well. Seattle can be optimistic that he will be able to contribute in some capacity since he was likely going to be in the defensive line rotation for the Browns.
