Chargers defeat Titans in home opener
The San Diego Chargers defeated the Tennessee Titans in a blowout victory of 38-10.
The Chargers played very well on both ends of the field.
Despite not having four key starters, Charger’s quarterback Philip Rivers move the ball well as tight end Dante Rosario replacing Antonio Gates caught three touchdown passes from Rivers and running back Jackie Battle replacing for Ryan Matthews rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns, reports ESPN.
The Chargers went from one of five in the end zone against the Raiders to five of six.
On the defensive end, the Chargers continue to improve as they consistently pressured Titans quarterback Jake Locker to 15-30 for 174 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, but they were also to get four sacks, according to North County Times.
The Charger’s defense also was able to hold down Titans star running back Chris Johnson to a measly 17 yards in eight carries.
During an interview, linebacker Shaun Philips talked about the Charger’s defense, “Everything’s tied together. Secondary does a great job covering, we do a great job rushing. Everything’s tied in.”
The Chargers are off to a great start since the they seem to be in sync and focused but will need to bring it the same mindset when they host the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday.
