Chiefs lock in Hali for five more years

The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed their top pass rusher in outside linebacker Tamba Hali.

John Clayton reports that the deal is a five-year, $60 million contract with $35 million guaranteed.

Hali is getting a huge contract extension, and is now one of the better paid defenders in the NFL, according to SB Nation. Hali is making a little less than DeMarcus Ware’s six-year, $78 million dollar deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Hali was dominant in 2010, as he sacked the quarterback 14.5 times, leading the AFC and was unstoppable as a pass rusher. He also forced four fumbles. Hali was undoubtedly the defensive MVP of the Chiefs.

The Chiefs already had Hali as their franchise player after his breakout season, but they wanted to lock him in for more years to come, for good reason.
