Clippers’ Billups returns in win against Timberwolves
On Wednesday’s night, the LA Clippers’ Chauncey Billups made his season debut, helping his team get the win against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The final score was 101-95.
Billups, who replaced shooting guard Willie Green, only played 19 minutes. His first basket of the game occurred only 42 seconds after the game started. That basket was the only one he had made.
Billups finished with seven points and three assists.
In Billups’ return, Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro told The Los Angeles Times, “It was great to have Chauncey back. You see the difference he makes out there.”
Last season the New York Knicks amnestied Billups. The Clippers picked him up and Billups averaged 15 points, four assists, in 20 games, according to The Associated Press.
Despite the win, the Clippers were out hustled and out rebounded by 52-35. By doing so, the Timberwolves had a chance to win when Timberwolves’ Nikola Pekovic got a key offensive rebound, scored and got fouled on the process. This cut the lead down to 90-88.
However, in the Wolves’ next possession, a turnover occurred, which gave the Clippers an easy fast break. DeAndre Jordan scored on the other end.
