Clippers get Chris Paul back but can’t hold off the Heat
Friday was a big night for the Los Angeles Clippers. They played the Miami Heat and Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Chauncey Billups, and Jamal Crawford joined the team on the floor from injuries.
However it was not enough to get all of these players back since the Heat won 111-89. There were impressive performances by LeBron James, 30 points, and Dwayne Wade, 20 points. James made nine of 11 shots and sat out in the fourth quarter.
It was not just Wade and James that got the Heat to their home record to 21-3 tonight, Mario Chalmers had 18 points and Shane Battier added 12 points.
The Clippers were not so hot with their starters back. The leading scorer was DeAndre Jordan with 17 points. Paul, Griffin, and Billups combined for only 23 points.
While at the end of first quarter the score was 30-29 with the Heat with the lead, the game did not remain close for long. The second and third quarter the Heat took off getting a lead as high as 24 points.
The Heat were shooting at 68 percent in the first half, 69 percent from the field and 68 percent from the 3-point line at a point in the third quarter, and 53% from the field and 56 percent from the 3-point line at the end of the night.
Not to mention that ESPN.com reported that Wade has been playing with the flu. Out with the flu was Ray Allen and Chris Bosh. The flue has been going around the team for a while now and James is trying to avoid catching it.
“Just try to get as much vitamin C, just try to take your vitamins, just try to stay on course and not let it affect you,” James said.
James might have had congestion this week and Wade might have had the flu, but the Heat still played extremely well to add another “W” to their record of 33-14.
