Colts safety Joe Lefeged arrested on gun charges
So it appears NFL players like guns. Actually, it looks like they love them. Another player has been arrested on gun-related charges. This time, it’s Indianapolis Colts safety Joe Lefeged, who was arrested in Washington D.C on early Saturday morning,
According to ABC News, Lefegred was in a vehicle with two other men when the police tried to stop the vehicle for speeding. The police smelled marijuana and found an open container of vodka. Before police could investigate the vehicle, the driver sped off and a brief chase ensued. The chase led to all three of the men fleeing from the car, only to be caught and arrested (Lefegred must not be very fast cause it’s hard to imagine an NFL safety outrunning a police officer).
ABC Washington, D.C. affiliate WJLA-TV reports that police found a .40 caliber pistol under the passengers seat. The report notes that the gun is registered, but not registered in DC.
Lefeged grew up outside of Washington. Now entering his third NFL season, He was signed by the Colts in July 2011 as an undrafted free agent, according to Fox Sports. He started four games last season and recorded two tackles and a forced fumble in the Colts’ playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Lefeged’s arrest caps off a pretty horrible week for the NFL, with Sunday still left to go.But it’s not just this week that’s been a pain for the NFL, it’s the entire offseason. Fox Sports has a list off all the players arrested this season. Titus Young makes an appearance or three.
