Darrelle Revis cleared for contact

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan announced Thursday that star cornerback Darrelle Revis has been cleared for contact.

NFL.com reports that Revis is expected to practice fully on Thursday but has not been cleared to play Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

Though being cleared for contact is a good sign for Revis and the Jets, coach Rex Ryan continued to say that it was up to the team doctors and trainers to clear him for Sunday.

NFL.com reports that Revis should be in the lineup Sunday afternoon, however.

Revis was injured Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills while trying to make a tackle.  He suffered a concussion and has not practiced fully with the team since, according to NBC Sports.

Last week, the Jets allowed 275 passing yards and two passing touchdowns against the Pittsburgh Steelers without Revis, according to CBS.  NFL.com reports that the Steelers top two receivers, Antonio Brown and Mike Wallace, combined for 12 catches, 153 yards and a score.

If he plays on Sunday, Revis will most likely be lined up against Brian Hartline who finished with nine catches and 111 yards against the Oakland Raiders last week, according to ESPN.
