Derrick Rose Return Versus Knicks “Likely”
Chicago Bulls reigning MVP point guard Derrick Rose will likely return Sunday for a prime-time match-up versus the New York Knicks.
Rose, who is averaging 22.8 points per game and 8 assists this season, has missed 22 games with various injuries, including the last 12 with a right groin strain.
“It’s been hard,” Rose said. “It’s definitely been hard, but God does everything for a reason. And I really don’t know the reason right now, but I know it should be good.”
Rose practiced went through a full practice with the team on Saturday and seems eager and ready play.
“My groin is not bothering me,” Rose said. “I’m happy to move on. My spirits are up. … And hopefully I’ll be playing Sunday.”
Not that the Bulls have needed him too much.
They currently sit at the top of the Eastern Conference with a three game lead over the Miami Heat, and have the best overall record in the NBA.
They are 8-4 over their last 12 games though, and had their first back-to-back losses since last season last week, when they went down at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder and then the Houston Rockets.
“We definitely want Derrick back out there, he helps, but even when Derrick comes back it’s not going to be easy,” said Bulls forward Joakim Noah. “We have a long road ahead, a lot of games, a lot of battles. With Derrick back we have to play hungry. When we play hungry, we’re tough to beat.”
The Bulls-Knicks game tips off at 12:00pm est. time on ABC tomorrow.
