Game of Thrones Season 7 news reveal that Harry Potter’s Jim Broadbent is playing one of the most important roles in the series. Although no details were revealed on the specific character he’ll portray, rumors mentioned that he might play Howland Reed.

Known for his role in Harry Potter series as Professor Slughorn, the 67-year-old Academy Award-winning actor Jim Broadbent confirmed he is joining the new episodes of Game of Thrones Season 7 in 2017. Though his role was not revealed, speculations hinted that he might play Howland Reed.

Inverse explained that he is a perfect actor to portray the character based from the descriptions in the Game of Thrones books. Those who don’t have any idea about Howland Reed’s character, he is Meera Reed’s father, who is Bran Stark’s traveling companion.

Furthermore, he secretly has a direct connection with Jon Snow. In fact, another theory added that he could also be the High Sparrow. Given that the next season of Game of Thrones would revolve around Jon Snow’s history, it’s already best for Howland Reed to appear in the series.

This is because Reed knows the entire history of Jon Snow’s parents. The same source earlier mentioned that Howland Reed will be Jon Snow’s key to  know about his past, especially about his real family. He could also be the same person to help Jon Snow discover that he is actually a king.
