Donte’ Stallworth injured from hot air balloon crash
New England Patriot wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth was injured in a hot air balloon accident that occurred in Miami, Florida.
Stallworth suffered from severe burns from the accident. He and his girlfriend were in a hot air balloon when the basket crashed into some power lines around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, reports the Miami Herald.
Stallworth’s girlfriend was also injured and both were taken to the Trauma Center at Kendall Regional Hospital. The hot air balloon operator was unharmed.
Drew Rosenhaus, Stallworth’s agent, said that there would be no permanent damage, reports the Associated Press.
“He’s going to be OK. He has some burns, but he’s going to be fine. He will be able to continue his NFL career. The injuries are not to the extent they will jeopardize his career,” said Rosenhaus.
This accident occurred exactly four years after Stallworth’s other tragic accident in South Florida. In 2009, he was suspended for the entire season for driving a car and killing a pedestrian. His punishment was 24 days in jail for a DUI manslaughter conviction.
