Dwight Howard has interest in playing for Rockets
Soon-to-be free agent Dwight Howard has interest in playing for the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets have had their hearts set on pursuing LA Clippers Chris Paul and Lakers’ Howard but mainly on Howard after he becomes a free agent on July 1, ESPN.com reported.
A source close to Howard told Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan Feigen that he is interested in pursuing his career playing for head coach Kevin McHale and assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff.
The 27 year-old is more interested in signing a four-year contract than a five-year contract playing for the Lakers, the source told the Houston Chronicle.
In turn for Howard, the Rockets have plans to trade Thomas Robinson, Sports Illustrated reported.
Even with Howard, they are trying to acquire Paul for the team, which will depend on what the Clippers offer him, because that could possibly get him to stay with LA.
“But the Rockets hope to wait to see if they need the cap room before making that kind of move because if they cannot land a major free agent, they would want to keep Robinson for his potential,” it stated in a report included in a Sports Illustrated article.
Another team that has their eyes on Paul and Howard is the Atlanta Hawks, but it may be difficult because of tampering charges they may have to face, that in fact, include the former Lakers player and current Clippers’ player.
