Dwight Howard to meet with Rockets first
The Summer of Dwight is drawing near, and teams are assembling their respective representatives to meet with Howard to try an lure him to their city. First up: the Houston Rockets.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Rockets will get the first jab at Howard when the parties meet Sunday shortly after 9 PM Pacific Standard Time.
Sources told ESPN that the Rockets posse to recruit Howard will include general manager Daryl Morey, coach Kevin McHale, owner Les Alexander, James Harden, Chandler Parsons and Hakeen Olajuwon. Clyde Drexler will also join the group, according to Mark Berman. Talk about an All-Star crew.
ESPN also notes that Howard will also meet with the Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks before sitting down with the Los Angeles Lakers. Sources told ESPN that Dallas will send owner Mark Cuban and superstar Dirk Nowitzki.
ESPN goes on to mention that the Lakers can offer a max deal of $118 million for five seasons while other teams will be able to offer a maximum of $88 million over four years. But earlier ESPN reports said Howard was unlikely to return to LA.
Howard averaged 17.1 points and 12.4 rebounds in his, lets say, entertaining (at least for non-Laker fans) season.
