“Jane The Virgin” Season 3 is just around the corner and already things are heating up for the critically acclaimed telenovela. Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman hints that Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) will fall for a mystery man she already met in her past.
Urman told Entertainment Weekly that Season 3 will have more twists. One of the twists is that a man from Jane’s past is making a comeback. Urman explains that Jane already met the mystery man way before she met Michael Cordero, Jr. (Brett Dier).
Urman added that the new character will bring more complication to Jane’s already complicated love life. And for those who are asking if Michael lives? Yes, he does manage to survive being shot during their wedding day. Urman added that Season 3 will also have many flashbacks for viewers to fully understand Jane’s present situation.
“We are doing some structural things differently,” Urman explains. “You’re going to learn a lot more history than you knew originally…You’ll figure out how the past impacts the present.”
Urman admits she felt the pressure of how to explain all intriguing twists that will send viewers at the edge of their seat. She narrated that the new season will take off from the obvious cliffhanger of Michael being shot by Rose (Bridget Regan). Urman added that viewers will also have to expect the growing up of some other characters such as Xo (Andrea Navedo).
“This year’s theme is about growing up in a real, deeper way,” Urman said. “All of our characters are taking major steps forward.”
She noted that even the lead character Jane will experience a very low point in her life as she questions will she ever be happy? Urman adds that Jane will have some trying times ahead of her in the coming season.
Aside from the twisting spills that viewers will surely look forward to the greatest question. Will Jane finally lose her virginity? Urman refuses to spill but teases for everyone to watch and follow “Jane The Virgin” Season 3 which premieres on Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. EDT over at CW.
