Rita Ora stirred up the music industry last week by going into a legal feud with boss Jay Z.
And now according to a report published in The Sun, Rihanna is the reason for the legal feud because of the star’s feud with Rita.
The report claims that Rihanna has used her power and influence in Jay Z’s record label Roc Nation, who she just signed with, to ensure that Rita’s career is not treated as top priority.
The legal battle ensued when Rita found out that Rihanna was given first choice on the hit songs that she could have used in her yet-to-be-released second album.
As a result, Rita is now fighting Jay Z and Roc Nation in court to get herself released from her contract with the firm.
The Sun reports a source telling: “Rihanna has never liked Rita and has been using her power at Roc Nation accordingly.”
“This is the main reason the label’s execs have been uninterested in putting effort into promoting Rita.”
“Songs that might be submitted to her are automatically given to Rihanna, who may then hold them for months before deciding she doesn’t want them.”
“The fact that Rita’s ex Calvin Harris is on their management books hasn’t helped either. He is one of their highest earners and they did nothing to stop him when he blocked Rita from using songs that he had written on her album.”
Rita signed to Jay Z’s record label in 2008 and has released only one album inspite of being with them for seven years. Certainly, her patience with Roc Nation is running out.
She filed her legal papers in LA’s Superior Court last week describing her relationship with the record label as “irrevocably damaged”.
Rihanna and Rita’s recent feud is hardly surprising though considering that they share a history of rivalry.
Earlier in May, Rihanna banned Rita Ora from her Met Gala after party. She was also furious when Rita shot a steamy music video for the single Body On Me with her ex Chris Brown.
