A recent wave of terrorist attacks has put much doubt on Paris’ security, pushing its government to amp up its security measures. Most recently, Paris Fashion Week seems to be the recipient of these additional measures, although it may seem that the bag checks, metal detectors and sniffing dogs are still not enough.
Not enough to protect Kim Kardashian anyway, who, as the entire world probably knows by now, was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel by two unidentified, masked men. Though the fashion celebrity was unharmed, she was surely left shaken by the whole ordeal.
Husband, Kanye West also appeared to be in distress as he cut his Meadows Music and Arts festival set short on Sunday evening. “I’m sorry, there’s a family emergency, I have to stop the show,” announced Yeezy in the middle of his song Heartless.
A video was also shared by a concert goer, capturing what was apparently the end to West’s performance.
With Kim K unharmed, and Ye on his way, one possible question in everyone’s minds now is where were Kim’s bodyguards?
Kim Kardashian incident puts Paris’ security in doubt
According to reports, there is still no word whether her security detail were off-duty at that time, though they were already credited for having been quick on their feet in another less-serious attack on Kardashian. This incident occurred Wednesday, when a known prankster named Vitalii Sediuk tried to kiss the reality star’s behind while entering L’Avenue. Sure enough, security tackled Sediuk and he is now probably kissing the behind of prison bars.
But whether or not Kardashian’s bodyguards were there, there is also the concern about Paris’s security.
Couple this with recent stabbing incidents in the country and the attack on nearby Nice-how can Paris guarantee the safety of its guests, tourists, let alone its residents? And with Paris making a run to be the host of the 2024 Olympics, the country may want to review its security plans again.
Because the country definitely does not want to see another Lochte incident, right?
With the Kim Kardashian incident, officials will hopefully revisit their plans for Paris’ security one more time.
