“Lucifer” is off to a hot start with the beginning of its shooting for Season 2, which is set to air on Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. over at Fox. The show’s writers have been revealing episode titles for the show that captured the curiosity of fans online.
In the Twitter account owned by Lucifer Writers Room, a fan asked about what episode one of Season 2 will be entitled and they replied “Oh, sh**. Mom’s Home,” while for episode two, they posted the title “Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress on Fire.” These titles point only to one person and that is the introduction of Lucifer’s mom, Charlotte, which will be played by Tricia Helfer.
Showrunner Joe Henderson long told TVLine that Season 2 will all about Mom – Charlotte. Season 2 will continue where the show’s initial season took off wherein its season finale gave a strong cliffhanger, mom escapes Hell. Henderson hinted that Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt) helped her escape Hell in a plan to bring Lucifer to his senses and remind him that he is the Prince of Darkness.
“Season 1 was the story of a wayward son dealing with his father issues; Season 2 is Mom. It was a very conscious decision not to have Maze there. You should definitely read into that. She sacrificed her most driving desire to save, of all things, an angel. I don’t think she understands why she did it,” Henderson explained.
Helfer, in an interview, also noted that she has read the scripts for the show and saw how she can play with her character. Helfer’s character, Charlotte, will be introduced as God’s ex-wife who was banished to Hell together with her son, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis). During the season finale, it was not established how she managed to escape the gates of Hell.
“Once you meet her, you realize what she’s about and who she is. So we’re not going to leave people guessing. There’s been enough of that with the concern that she’s escaped from Hell,” Helfer said.
More spoilers were revealed on social media as the show’s writers also posted a picture of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), which also insinuates the return of whom Lucifer calls the “Dush” Detective Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro). With the post, it also tells fans that Det. Dan will be in for a return to clear out his name after framing Lucifer by using Malcolm Graham (Kevin Rankin) in the process.
It is an exciting season for “Lucifer” as questions from the past season will soon be answered and new questions will be revealed as well. Writers of the show surely have so many things to reveal and it will keep coming as the show’s airing is just within reach.
