The latter half of MasterChef US’ back-to-back episodes will see the top eight chefs going through skills tests that will be divided into three parts. This will follow the first half of the back-to-back airing which pits the home cooks against a test involving salmon.
Coming from the last episode of MasterChef US, the home cooks faced a difficult elimination challenge of creating their own take on the Korean dish-Bibimbap. Winning the challenge was Shaun who created a New York steak Bibimbap, that was sprinkled with pickled radishes and shishito peppers, that got viewers salivating and Chef Edward Lee saying “That makes me so happy.”
On the other hand, the bottom three was made up of Diamond, Katie and David, who all obviously presented below par dishes, with Diamond’s Thanksgiving Bibimbap being voted the worst. She was sent home, leaving nine cooks behind.
The next episode, called “Five-star Food,” teased of featuring Salmon as the star ingredient. The preview of the next episode also showed a flustered Brandi Mudd, and a disappointed David, who was told “You’re a talented cook, but it’s dreadful,” by Gordon Ramsay. Reports say that one more chef will be going home after the elimination challenge.
Since the series also missed one episode during the Olympics, Fox will be airing two episodes back-to-back. With eight chefs left, episode thirteen, called “Hot Potato” will see the top eight chefs going against skills tests involving potatoes.
With Chef Edward Lee’s time already up in the MasterChef kitchen, reports are that Top Chef season seven winner Kevin Sbraga will be making his first appearance in the show. He was already confirmed to be part of the show as a guest judge back in March, but details on his first appearance were not disclosed. Chef Sbraga owns the holdings to Sbraga and The Fat Ham.
