Fans of the popular “Now You See Me” franchise are already expecting the third installment of the movie, “Now You See Me 3”, few months after the release of “Now You See Me 2”. It’s time to get excited since the third installment of the movie is already in works.
“We’ve already begun early planning for ‘Now You See Me 3’” Jon Feltheimer, CEO of Lionsgate said during the company’s conference call with analysts to discuss quarterly earnings, a year back, according to Variety.
The first installment of the franchise, “Now You See Me” did surprisingly well at the box office, considering its budget of $75 million. The movie grossed a total of $350 million worldwide. The rare original idea of magicians completing a heist struck well with the audience and the movie became an instant hit.
However, according to Box Office Mojo, the second installment of the movie, “Now You See Me 2”, which was produced at an increased budget of $90 million, yielded a box office return of $320 million, which is less than what the first film earned. Although the movie is considered a box office success, the movie failed to increase its collection despite increasing its production budget.
It has been reported that Lionsgate are now having second thoughts regarding the production of “Now You See Me 3”, despite signing the director of the second installment, Jon Chu for the third movie. The production company estimated “Now You See Me 2” to outgross the original and it not being able to do so have put clouds over the development of the third movie, according to Bustle.
If “Now You See Me 3” indeed gets materialized, then the expected cast of the movie will include Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman and Daniel Radcliffe. Isla Fisher is also expected to return to the franchise, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
The probable “Now You See Me 3” release date has not been declared yet. However, it is believed that the movie will be released in 2017, as reported by Release Date Portal.
