Report: Constantine does cameo in CW shows paving way for Season 2

John Constantine is making his way for a Season 2 run with CW. Reports are swelling that as the creative team is planning for its next storyline, Constantine will continue to do cameo appearances on other shows such as “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow.”

Constantine was originally handled by NBC but decided to cut the show after its season finale in February. The first season had 13 episodes and the reason why NBC decided not to renew the series was due to poor ratings. But when Constantine, played by Matt Ryan, did a cameo scene in “Arrow,” he was well embraced by the viewers that he would once in a while stop by and help Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell).

“Arrow” showrunner Marc Guggenheim has always wanted to add a diversified story line to the series and hoped that they could make Constantine a regular. He told TV Insider that “Arrow” Season 4 saw an introduction of mythology and Constantine would be a great addition to the show’s characters.

“Each year on the show, we have added and expanded the mythology with different elements. In Season 2 we introduced the idea of superpowers, last year brought in the League of Assassins, and for Season 4, we always had a plan to introduce magic and mysticism. We were already swimming in those waters and that’s why Constantine is this great organic little development,” Guggenheim said.

And since “Arrow” Season 5 would see the story returning to its original story line, John Constantine, and his skills could be a fit with the “Legends of Tomorrow.” Many speculate that with Constantine cameo runs, it is a sign that it could very well lead to a Season 2 run. Season 1 episodes of Constantine are given a rerun over at CW giving strong indications that the network’s creative department is doing its research to plot the show’s direction in Season 2.

During its season finale, more cliffhangers rather than answers were shown and CW is thinking of finishing what Constantine has started. However, CW President Mark Pedowitz will still have the final say if Constantine would be given another season run or will its story just be shelved and have Matt Ryan reprise his character and do cameo runs in other CW shows.
