This year has been one roller coaster ride for Ronda Rousey. After losing to Holly Holm at UFC 193, another shock awaits Rousey, but this time it is infact a good news.
Ronda Rousey has been awarded the WWE Slammy award on Monday following her appearance at WrestleMania 31 in April, which has been voted as ‘This is Awesome Moment of the Year’. The votes are purely fan based.
Rousey made the appearance in the ring with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania 31 and the former UFC champion helped tackle WWE executives – Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
Ever since her appearance at WrestleMania 31, fans have been wanting to see more of her in a professional wrestling ring. In which, Ronda’s appearance in the WWE had also helped her gain amass tons of publicity.
However, neither Rousey nor Johnson physically accepted the award. But since the award is based on fan votes – it looks like even after Rousey’s defeat – she still has lots of fans worldwide rooting and supporting her.
Rousey has previously talked about making another WWE appearance possibly at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas next year but judging after her recent defeat to Holm, it looks like she will take some time off to make another appearance at a professional ring. Also, her commitments to shoot two movies while recuperating from injury will hardly allow her any free time.
Rousey infact plans to start her movie shoots by early next year. After which, she will then focus on her rematch with Holm.
UFC co-winner Lorenzo Fertitta hinted that the rematch between Rousey and Holm might happen at UFC 200 in July next year at MGM Properties’ newly built arena in Las Vegas.
Either way, Rousey can heave a sigh of relief after finding that she has not yet lost her charm and persona even after losing her UFC 193 bout to Holly Holm.
