The new action-horror series, Van Helsing, has just garnered a second season to begin production January of next year. This was announced by series producer Nomadic Pictures and distributor Dynamic Television and it will also contain a total of 13 episodes.
“We have a wonderful and terrifying road ahead planned for Vanessa, her allies and her enemies,” said Van Helsing writer/showrunner, Neil LaBute. “I think this is a world and a story that can be sustained for many years and I am inspired to do so thanks to Syfy’s obvious trust and commitment in the storytellers, cast and crew.”
As posted by Deadline, Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton), a descendant of the legendary vampire hunters, awakens from a three-year coma only to discover that she is not what she thinks she is and is out of the ordinary. Vanessa is not only immune to vampire bites but also has the ability to turn the bloodthirsty predators back to their human self. The series started after the last remaining underground vampires rise up to try to rule once again.
According to Parent Herald, LaBute promised that the viewers can expect more exciting and interesting storyline for the second season.
The new TV series is set in the year 2019 and is a re-imagination of the of the vampire brand that stems with the world’s famous vampire, Dracula. Aside from Overton, Van Helsing also stars Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, David Cubitt, Vincent Gale, Rukiya Bernard, Trezzo Mahoro, Aleks Paunovic, Laura Mennell, Tim Guinee and Paul Johansson.
