Ahead of the upcoming premiere episode of the Walking Dead, Norman Reedus, who plays the fan favorite Daryl Dixon, shared his thoughts on how viewers may react when the series makes its way back to the small screen this month.
“I imagine a lot of people will be kicking their television sets,” shared the actor on the Tonight Show, last Thursday night. “Oh yeah! I didn’t say names! I mean, it’s heavy. It’s really, really heavy.”
As long time The Walking Dead fans would know, the last episode of season six ended with a cliffhanger that left a lot of viewers pissed, annoyed, hanging (redundant, yes, but it really did) and very much looking forward to season seven. This was all thanks to the introduction of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who was poised to kill some from Daryl’s group.
(Just as a refresher) this included Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Daryl (Reedus), Aaron (Ross Marquand), Rosita (Christian Serratos), Carl (Chandler Riggs), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), who were all put in a single file as Negan made his (still) unrevealed choice.
The Walking Dead will have ‘new beginning’ says Norman Reedus
According to Reedus though, the big death will seemingly have a huge impact on the show, even resetting everything back to square one.
“It’s going to be a whole new beginning for The Walking Dead. Really, we’ve taken the show and just flipped it upside down,” Norman Reedus shared in another interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It’s a different show now. It’s going to have a different feeling. You’re going to see your favorite characters in a position that they’ve never been in before, which is super vulnerable and victimized.”
But at this point, there is really just one victim in the minds of fans, and that is of course, the other end of Lucille’s barbed wrath.
Hopefully it’s not Norman Reedus, or the whole world may very well be kicking their TV screens.
