WWE Payback 2016 Preview, Rumors, Live Streaming and Predictions

WWE Payback 2016 is full of intriguing matches that could potentially lead to good matches and storyline progression. It’s been a month since WrestleMania 32 and the product is very enjoyable to watch. Here is SportsRageous’ short Payback preview and predictions complete with live stream links.

Kalisto vs. Ryback for the United States Championship (Kickoff Match)

The WWE managed to make the U.S. Title irrelevant again after John Cena elevated its status last year. Ryback gets his second chance against Kalisto and look for him to get the win and the gold this time around.

Cena is close to returning and making the U.S. championship mean something again should be his priority. He never got a rematch for the title and Ryback would be the perfect heel champion to feed to Cena.

Prediction: Ryback becomes the new U.S. Champion

Enzo & Big Cass vs. The Vaudevillains to determine the No. 1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships

According to Daily Wrestling News, top WWE officials are very high on of Enzo & Big Cass but it’s too early for them to feud with The New Day. The Vaudevillains will come out as winners likely due to cheating or an interference from The Dudley Boyz.

This result would give Enzo & Big Cass their first big feud while preserving their showdown with The New Day at a bigger event like SummerSlam.

Prediction: The Vaudevillains becomes the No. 1 Contenders for the Tag Team championships

Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin

This match will be Corbin’s first one-on-one PPV match and don’t be surprised if he comes out on top. His feud with Ziggler is simple but it works. Expect The Showoff to lose and put over the younger guy.

Prediction: Baron Corbin wins via pinfall

Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho

Since turning heel, Y2J is one of the most entertaining superstars on the roster with his “you stupid idiot” catchphrase. Ambrose is in need of a big win to make him credible again after losing to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32. If The Lunatic wins, Jericho will have a lot of things to say that will further the feud even more.

Prediction: Dean Ambrose wins via pinfall

The Miz vs. Cesaro for the Intercontinental Championship

The Miz’s character on television got the boost it needed when his real-life wife Maryse became his valet. Many fans would love to see Cesaro win the Intercontinental championship at Payback but expect Maryse to get involved and help her husband retain. The Swiss Superman can win it at the next PPV.

Prediction: The Miz retains

Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens

WWE has built this feud as two bitter rivals who have been fighting each other since their days at the independent scene. Owens has dominated their feud in NXT and many fans would love to see Zayn win this one.

However, it looks like these two will be fighting each other for a very long time which means a no-contest could be in the works at Payback. That result would lead to a stipulation match at the next pay-per-view which is Extreme Rules.

Prediction: No Contest

Charlotte vs. Natalya for the WWE Women’s Championship

These two wrestled one the best women’s matches in WWE history back in May 2014. Look for them to recreate something close to it this Sunday. It will be good to see Bret “The Hitman” Hart back in the WWE after his cancer diagnosis but his presence won’t be enough to help Natalya win the WWE Women’s championship.

Prediction: Charlotte retains

Mr. McMahon Announcement

As mentioned in a previous report, WWE chairman Vince McMahon is expected to announce that Shane and Stephanie will be running the WWE at the same time. One will be running Raw and the other will be in charge of SmackDown.

Despite a lot of injuries to its top stars, the WWE has its deepest roster ever and many superstars will benefit from the brand split.

Roman Reigns vs. A.J. Styles for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The main event is the most intriguing match on the card with a lot of possible outcomes. However, one thing is for sure and that is Roman Reigns retaining his championship.

Styles will make Reigns look good during the match with Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows interfering in the match after a ref bump. They will lay out Styles with the Magic Killer and then reveal that Finn Balor is the one behind it all the next night on Raw.

Prediction: Roman Reigns retains after the Bullet Club attacks A.J. Styles
