Falcons’ defense leads win over Saints

On Thursday Night Football, the Atlanta Falcons’ defense played a huge part in a win over their division rivals, the New Orleans Saints. The final score was 23-13.

On the Saints’ first possession, Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees tried to find Marques Colston for a 37-yard touchdown, but instead got picked off by safety Thomas DeCoud.

Other Falcon players like Sean Weatherspoon and Jonathan Babineaux also picked off Brees.

During an interview with the Associated Press, Brees talked about his performance, saying, “That’s the first time that’s ever happened to me, so that’s extremely disappointing. I pride myself on being a good decision-maker and not someone who will be a detriment to the game.”

On the other side of the field, Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan didn’t have a great day, but did enough to move the chains.

Ryan found his tight end Tony Gonzalez for a huge 17-yard touchdown to finish a 49-yard drive.

Also running back Michael Turner made a three-yard touchdown. By doing so, he set the franchise record by the record of 58, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

With this victory the Falcons are now 11-1, while the Saints fell to 5-7.
