Floyd Mayweather ‘I think I have earned the right to call myself ‘the best ever”

When asked Floyd Mayweather if he is still the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, ‘Money’ answered back and instead took the history of boxing with him to tell everyone that he is the best ever.

“I really wouldn’t want to say the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. You know, I am no longer active. I would like to say the best ever (TBE),” said Mayweather through BBC.com

Some may consider other boxing legends like Muhammed Ali, Joe Lewis or even Rocky Marciano as the best in the history, Mayweather insisted that comparing himself to those fighters– he is just telling the truth.

“It’s not being cocky or arrogant, it’s just the proof is in the pudding,” said Mayweather.

“I think I have earned the right to call myself TBE. And I have lived up to the name TBE by going out there, day in, day out, when I was active and winning.”

One of the main basis for Mayweather’s to self-proclaim himself to be the best of the best is his unblemished record in the sport. Something that only a few fighters have accomplished but none on the level that Mayweather is in.

But despite that, Mayweather said that he took loses in life. But it is not on the boxing ring.

“Have I have ever took a loss before? Yes. In life. You lose a loved one, that’s taking a loss. When your children hurt, that’s a loss. When you are sick, that’s a loss. But I got to where I got to from a lot of hard work, a very strong team, a smart team that stood behind me.”

Mayweather also debunks talks on a possibility for him to come back to fighting again. Also denies the claim that his camp is talking to Manny Pacquiao on another blockbuster fight.

For now, Mayweather is happily retired and bringing on his mind that he is the best ever in the sport.
