Miami Heat Season Preview: No more Wade, Whiteside and Dragic are the franchise players of the future

The Miami Heat lost Dwyane Wade to the Chicago Bulls this year. They are moving forward with new star players for the team, center Hassan Whiteside and point guard Goran Dragic.

Playoffs could be difficult for the Heat but with an improving team they have a chance to beat most teams in the East. For the 2016-2017 NBA Season, the Heat will try to get to the playoffs but developing their young talent is urgent.

PG: Goran Dragic/Tyler Johnson/Beno Udrih/Briante Weber
SG: Josh Richardson/Dion Waiters/Wayne Ellington
SF: Justise Winslow/James Johnson/Michael Carrera
PF: Josh McRoberts/Derrick Williams/Udonis Haslem/Luke Babbit

Heat’s Additions: Dion Waiters, Wayne Ellington, James Johnson, Derrick Williams
Heat’s Losses: Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade

With the loss of Wade and Bosh, the Heat are moving towards the future relying on Dragic and Whiteside. They were prepared to lose Wade but not Bosh but if Bosh retires they can get some help financially next season. That will be big for Miami in their hopes of adding stars to the team next year.

Heat’s Strengths: Without Wade and Bosh, the team now wants to run more and adapt a “run and gun” style on offense. Dragic will have his chance to shine as a main man without the former Heat star. Whiteside will also get a bigger role on offense but his defense will be his main contribution for the Heat.

With young guys, they also can play faster next season. Winslow, Johnson, Waiters, Johnson will get a chance to prove they belong to the Heat’s main rotation players.

Heat’s Weaknesses: Aside from Whiteside and Dragic, the Heat have role players in the line-up. With a long regular season, other players must step up especially on offense. Their depth at the power forward position is also a concern.
