Amid constant trade rumors, Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee says he still wants to play and win in the City of Brotherly Love.

According to ESPN, Lee is not looking for a change of scenery and made that clear Tuesday night when he spoke to reporters.

“I want to win. I signed to win here. If that was misconstrued that I want to play someplace else, that’s not the case. I want to play here,” the former Cy Young Award winner said.

Last week, Lee stepped around questions posed to him by the media about whether or not he wanted to remain in Philadelphia. A day later, Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. publically announced that he had no plans to trade the 34-year-old lefthander.

“It starts and ends with pitching, as far as I’m concerned. So the more quality pitching you have, the better chance you have to build around that to win.”

Lee, a three time all-star, is in the third season of a five-year, $120 million contract. In last night’s performance, he struck out nine batters in eight innings and propelled the team to a 4-2 victory over the Washington Nationals, notes MLB.

“If we play fundamental baseball and everyone plays up to their capabilities, we can beat anybody,” Lee said.

Despite the team’s dismal sub .500 record, Lee has lived up to his capabilities this season boasting a 9-2 record with a 2.53 ERA.

The game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat last night was pretty much wrapped up for the Spurs and would have given them their fourth championship in the past decade. But then the Heat’s Ray Allen nailed a clutch three pointer with 5.2 seconds left to send it into overtime.

In the first half, Tim Duncan and the Spurs came out having their way with the Heat. Duncan alone posted 25 points and 8 boards on 11-13 shooting during the half, reports the Associated Press. They went into the half with a six point lead 50-44, and after the third they had a ten point lead 75-65.

LeBron James looked very timid and frustrated throughout the first three quarters, and then he finally came into his own, on a signature moment that will be remembered throughout history, for James losing his headband on a Mario Chalmers flail at the rim, in which James recovered the basketball midair and slammed it through the hoop. The Heat went on a 19-7 run in the fourth to take the lead 84-82. James finished the game with a triple double adding 32 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds, according to the AP.

However, the Spurs came back firing as tony Parker hit a step back three over James to tie the game at 89-89, then on the Spurs next possession Parker scored on a tough floater to give the Spurs a lead 91-89 with just under a minute left in regulation. After Manu Ginobli’s free throw to give the Spurs a 94-89 lead with :28 seconds left, it looked like the Spurs would be crowned the champs.

But not so fast! On the Heat’s next possession James pulled up and missed a three point attempt, but Bosh recovered the offensive board, dished it out the James, and he knocked it down only leaving the heat down two 94-92 with :20 seconds left. The Heat then foul Kawhi Leonard who missed a crucial free throw leaving the Spurs a three point lead with :19 seconds left. On the Heat final regulation possession, none other than Ray Allen stepped up and drained a cold-blooded three with 5.2 seconds left to send it into overtime.

In overtime, the Spurs took the lead early in the period 100-97 after a Parker made free throw. The Heat then regained momentum on a James floater 101-100, and held the lead to victory with two huge defensive plays by Chris Bosh. He blocked a Tony Parker shot with :30 seconds left in OT, and blocked Danny Green’s three point attempt in the final seconds of overtime securing a victory for the Heat.

The Spurs late game blunders and execution is the reason why they currently aren’t the champs. Hopefully, the classic that was game six will transition over to game seven finale to remember.

“It was by far the best game I’ve ever been a part of,” James told the Miami Herald. “The ups and downs, the rollercoaster, the emotions, good and bad throughout the whole game. To be a part of something like this is something you’re never going to be able to recreate once you’re done playing the game and I’m blessed to be a part of something like this.”

The city of San Jose, California filed a suit against the MLB on Tuesday.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the suit is based on antitrust laws and it says that the league, including Commissioner Bud Selig, violated laws on unfair business practices and conduct.

“This action arises from the blatant conspiracy by Major League Baseball to prevent the Athletics Baseball Club from moving to San Jose,” stated the suit, as included in a San Francisco Chronicle report.

The Oakland Athletics wanted to move out of their current coliseum and play elsewhere, but the San Francisco Giants have control over that and turned down the Athletics’ plans to change locations. This lawsuit is also based on the rights and the powers of the league to decide the locations of where its teams play, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The Athletics’ desire to relocate to a new stadium is due to their wanting of higher fan attendance and sales, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

For San Jose, attorney Joseph Cotchett filed the suit and said that the antitrust exemption won’t be strong or present in court.

“Major League Baseball is going to be significantly affected by the loss of the antitrust exemption, and I think this case will be the case to challenge it,” he told the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Washington Nationals’ young star Bryce Harper has been cleared to begin walking and jogging as a part of his workout.

According to MLB.com, the Nationals confirmed the news this afternoon, however an exact timetable for Harper’s return was not mentioned. The All-Star sensation that has taken Major League Baseball by the horns has been suffering from an overuse injury, which has caused swelling and soreness, keeping him from the lineup.

While Harper can begin walking and jogging again, Nationals head athletic trainer Lee Kuntz was quick to mention the organization will be very cautious in the outfielder’s evaluations before he can return.

In a statement posted on the Washington Post, Kuntz said, “We’re going to reevaluate this almost daily. We’re adding bricks every day, trying to improve upon what we did yesterday and not lose any ground. You got to see how he reacts to the one thing before you add another.”

Harper is currently batting .287 with 12 home runs and 23 RBIs on the season, making his return vital to the Nationals’ success moving closer to October.

Former Green Bay Packers inside linebacker Desmond Bishop announced he will be visiting his old rival, the Minnesota Vikings.

ESPN Milwaukee reported that the recently-released 28-year-old Bishop will be traveling to the Twin Cities on Tuesday to visit with Vikings officials.

The Packers released Bishop on June 17 after a major hamstring injury that forced him to miss the entire 2012 NFL season. In 2011 Bishop led Green Bay in tackles and became a major factor alongside Clay Matthews. Soon after the linebacker suffered from a ruptured hamstring, causing the Packers front office to rethink the four-year, $19 million dollar contract.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network also announced that the Kansas City Chiefs will also take a look at Bishop for the coming season, saying, “Along with the #Vikings today, ex-Packers LB Desmond Bishop is set to visit with the #Chiefs Thursday. He’ll arrive Wednesday.”

It is unclear who is the front-runner at this point, however expect the news surrounding Desmond Bishop to pick up immensely in the coming weeks.

The New York Yankees have sent first baseman Mark Teixeira to the disabled list and Kevin Youkilis is expected to miss 10-12 weeks with a herniated disc in his back.

According to MLB.com, the Yankees announced the news June 18 – Teixeira will be moved to the 15-day disabled list and Youkilis will undergo back surgery in California on Thursday.

Teixeira missed the first 50 games of the season and in his short return the first baseman struggled to maintain a .151 batting average. Youkilis joined the team this summer, signing for $12 million in a one-year deal.

While Teixeira is expected to recover and return the status of Youkilis isn’t as optimistic and has left many wondering if the 34-year old can return from a major back injury.

In a statement posted in the New York Daily News, the Yankees’ General Manager Brian Cashman said, “Back issues usually don’t get better. They can, but they’re very debilitating and hard to get a handle on. It’s definitely a concern. As of right now, I’m not planning on him until they tell me I can plan on him.”

The Yankees have recalled outfielder Zoilo Almonte and Adam Warren from the Triple-A leagues to replace Youkilis and Teixeira.

The New England Patriots just can’t catch a break with their tight ends. First, Rob Gronkowski undergoes 900 surgeries (actually five), now, Aaron Hernandez is being questioned about a homicide in North Attleborough, about 40 miles south of Boston.

According to SI.com, police are searching Hernandez’s home, but Hernandez is not believed to be a murder suspect. However, a source told SI.com that a vehicle rented in Hernandez’s name has emerged as a key part of the investigation.

The Sun Chronicle of North Attleborough reported Tuesday that a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban is registered to Enterprise car rental and a source says Hernandez is connected to that vehicle.

A jogger found the body of a 27-year-old Boston man on Monday, less than a mile from Hernandez’s home.

About 10 cars were parked in front of Hernandez’s house, with an unmarked car blocking Hernandez’s driveway. Shortly after 7 p.m., about 10 Bristol county state police detectives entered the house. Two unidentified males attempted to leave the house and questioned the blocking of the driveway. After several minutes they were taken separately away by police but weren’t handcuffed, according to the SI.com report.

Trade talks between the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics may not be dead after all.

Reports circulated Monday night that trade talks were dead, but the LA Times reports that though at a standstill, talks are not completely over.

Yahoo! Sports reported Monday that talks stalled when the Celtics requested an additional first round pick after it was finally determined that point guard Eric Bledsoe would not be included in the deal.

Despite the undead talks with the Celtics, the Clippers are proceeding with coaching interviews. The LA Times notes that the Clippers plan to have candidates Byron Scott and Brian Shaw meet with owner Donald Sterling this week in case a deal can’t be reached with the Celtics, executives told The Times.

The LA Times also reports that Paul Pierce could wind up in the deal, which would complete the transformation of the Clippers into Boston West, with Chris Paul playing the role of Rajon Rondo.

Even if trade talks do in fact die, let us still try to get over the fact that players and coaches actually WANT to play for the Clippers.

While the Heat have yet to find a good answer for the Spurs Danny Green, LeBron James and Nike have decided to test the basketball gods and declare the Miami Heat the 2012-2013 NBA Champions.

image: NikeTalk

With the Miami Heat down 3-2 to the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, LeBron James and Nike have released a new version of the Lebron X Low Floral shoes with a prediction for the reminder of this year’s NBA Finals. On the insole of one shoe is written “2-TIME CHAMPION” and on the other shoe’s insole is written “11-12 12-13″ which would be the years of the Heat’s back-to-back NBA Championships if they win Games 6 and 7.

With something as simple as a sneaker LeBron James has made a huge statement with the release of his new shoes on Tuesday, a day when he still only had one NBA Championship ring. If the San Antonio Spurs win Game 6 in Miami tonight LeBron and Nike will have created a new sneaker line of mistakes points out NYDailyNews.com.

Nike has made a mistake like this involving James in the past with the 2009 Nike Zoom Soldier. The sneaker had the Cleveland Cavaliers colors and had “REPPIN’ THE EAST” on the insole.

“When the Cavs didn’t make the NBA Finals, that sneaker disappeared,” said Jon Marin, writer for KixAndTheCity.com.

Nike may need to do another recall if LeBron and the Heat can’t pull this series out.

While very few will question that King James is the greatest player currently playing the game of basketball, not a single human being can claim that as of Tuesday, June 18, 2013 LeBron James has two NBA Championship rings. He has one. That is all.

“Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in Wimbledon this year. I am extremely disappointed as I have always loved The Championships, but I need to take time to let my back heal,” she said on Facebook, reports USA Today.

“I look forward to returning to the courts as soon as possible, with my goal being to return to Mylan World Team Tennis on July 8th in Washington D.C. Many thanks to my fans for the love and support and I will be seeing you very soon back on the courts.”

According to CBS Sports, after Williams was defeated in the first round in the singles, she took herself out from the doubles portion for the same back injury.

Williams has had five wins at Wimbledon in the past, with the most recent win in 2008.
