Gators LB Antonio Morrison facing battery charges

Florida Gators linebacker Antonio Morrison was arrested June 16 for allegedly punching a nightclub bouncer over admission rates.

According to ESPN, the Gainesville Police Department report stated two officers on patrol witnessed an altercation at the entrance of a Florida nightclub and upon arriving the bouncer claimed he was attacked.

Morrison was later arrested at his dorm on campus and is facing charges of battery after the altercation. The Associated Press reports that Morrison allegedly said, “Do you know who I am? I am a UF football player. I am Antonio!”

The linebacker suited up in nine games for the Gators in 2012 and played a modest role earning 27 solo tackles and one sack in his freshman campaign.  Morrison, now a sophomore, was expected to play a major role for the Gators in 2013 and was considered a candidate for a starting role.

Expect more news surrounding Morrison in the near future, and keep an eye on the Gator defense in 2013 if the experienced Morrison is not able to return.
