Houston Texans seize first playoff win after blowing out Cincinnati Bengals

Rookie J. J. Watt had a leaping interception that he returned for a touchdown late in the first half, which set the momentum for the Texans leading them to finish with 31 points to Cincinnati’s 10 on Saturday in an AFC wild-card game.

After nine consecutive seasons of being absent from partaking in a postseason run for the Super Bowl, the Texans who are the AFC South champion (11-6), will go on to face the AFC North Champion Ravens in Baltimore next Sunday.

“This team believes,” running back Arian Foster said, according to ABC News. “I’ve never been around a team like this before. We don’t need anyone else to believe.”

Third-string quarterback T. J. Yates, a rookie that has been pulled to play after the team lost Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart due to sustained injuries during the season, threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Andre Johnson. According to Fox News, Foster followed with his second touchdown of the game after completing a 42-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Foster totaled 153 yards for 24 carries and remained consistent through the duration of the game.

“As soon as we settled down and got in the groove,” Foster sad, “we did what we do best.”

The Texans have shown that they can contend in a playoff situation, but will it be enough to manifest a win against the Ravens?
