Ichiro congratulates Ken Griffey Jr. in incredible manner

On Saturday night, Ken Griffey Jr. was inducted in to the Seattle Mariners team Hall of Fame at Safeco Field with a sellout crowd watching.

This was an honor that surprised no one as Griffey was not only one of the greatest Mariners of all time and a fan favorite in Seattle, but one of the best to ever play the game. Griffey became the seventh of a very elite group in the M’s Hall of Fame, joining Alvin Davis, Dave Niehaus, Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, and Dan Wilson, according to Yahoo! Sports.

In addition to an incredible video tribute which chronicled Griffey’s career, a phenomenal speech from ‘The Kid’ himself, and much more; the Mariners cut Griffey’s No. 24 into the center-field grass for their game that day against the Brewers, according to USA Today.

Among all of the festivities, one congratulations stood out. It came from someone who only played two seasons with Griffey but has idolized him his whole life – Ichiro.

It will be interesting to see if Ichiro and his Dave Niehaus impersonation can top this congratulations when Griffey inevitably gets inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

“My Oh My!”
