Jacoby Jones to be the next NFL contestant on ‘Dancing with the Stars’
Ravens Super Bowl hero Jacoby Jones will try to fill the shoes of Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward and Donald Driver this spring, not on the football field but as a contestant on the ABC’s TV show Dancing With the Stars.
The show kicked off the reveal of their contestants for the 16th season with a commercial during Sunday night’s Academy Awards that featured Jones. It said, “Jacoby Jones just won a Super Bowl ring. What is he going to do next?: Dance.”
USA Today Sports is reporting the rest of cast will be announced Tuesday morning.
Jones has not been shy about his desire to be on the television program. According to the Baltimore Sun, after the Super Bowl victory Jones made an appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Kimmel asked if he thought about being on the show. Jones said,”Let me ask you this: Do polar bears poo on ice?”
Smith, Ward and Driver all took home the championship the seasons they competed in but plenty of other NFL players have gone home without the mirror ball trophy. Jerry Rice, Jason Taylor, Warren Sapp, Lawrence Taylor, Michael Irvin, Chad Ochocinco and Kurt Warner have also competed on the show.
