Jaguars rule out Maurice Jones-Drew out of week 8

On Monday, Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Mike Mularkey ruled out running back Maurice Jones-Drew for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers during Week 8.

Jones-Drew had been diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury on his left foot, which may make him miss a lot of games or even the rest of the season, according to Sporting News NFL.

The injury occurred during last Sunday’s overtime loss against the Oakland Raiders. MJD was only able to play in the first quarter and was immediately sidelined after two carries.

MJD once led the NFL league in rushes but had been struggling this season because he failed to report during the offseason program and training camp. MJD rushed in total for 414 yards in 86 carries, according to USA Today.

With MJD out for Sunday’s game, back up Rashad Jennings will have his chance to start. Other notable starters that the Jaguars are looking at are Montell Owens, Jalen Parmele or a free agent rusher.

Some of the other players that were affected by a Lisfranc injury were New York Jets’ receiver Santonio Holmes and Houston Texans’ quarterback Matt Schaub.
