James Harden proving to be a superstar

Last season, James Harden was coming off the bench for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Now he is a starting shooting guard for the Houston Rockets and making a name for himself in the NBA.

When the Thunder traded Harden to Houston in the offseason, not only did they trade away their third overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, but they traded away a talent that any NBA teams would die for.

Harden is averaging 26.2 points per game with 4.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists, according to Yahoo Sports. In Harden’s three seasons with the Thunder he averaged 9.9 points per game his first year, 12.2 the next, and 16.8 in his final season with the team.

His scoring has amped up from when he was with the Thunder and now he has the Rockets in position for the playoffs. The Rockets are currently in the seventh seed and are chasing the Golden State Warriors for the sixth seed.

Harden is the third player in NBA history to score 45 points against his previous team, according to ESPN.com. Harden has also helped the Rockets tie the all time 3-point baskets made in a NBA game with 23.

If there is a player that can significantly impact a team, its Harden. He not only has the Rocket in position for the playoffs, but he has resurrected a franchise that once had players such as Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, and Steve Francis

His famous beard is being recognized around the NBA and if its one thing, Harden and the Rockets will give any team a challenge in the Western Conference playoffs.
