Jason Kidd arrested for DWI
All-Star point guard and Future Hall of Famer, Jason Kidd was arrested for driving under the influence after he crashed his vehicle into a telephone pole early morning in the Hamptons.
TMZ reported that Kidd, 39, attended a party held at a East Hampton club and appeared drunk before he took of that morning.
Kidd only suffered minor injuries, as he was taken to a nearby hospital and was released shortly after.
Southampton Town police reported that Kidd was in a single-car accident Watermill, NY, and found Kidd’s 2012 Cadillac Escalade in the woods near the intersection of Little Cob Road and Cobb Road.
Kidd will be charged with DWI, that could put Kidd in jail for up to a year.
The New York Knicks did not comment on the incident, as they signed Kidd to help their point guard position in hopes of a title run.
Kidd has previously played for the Phoenix Suns, New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks and now with the Knicks. Kidd cemented his place in history during his time with the Nets, as he lead them to two back-to-back NBA Finals appearances.
He later won his first ring with the Dallas Mavericks, back in the 2010-11 season.
The Knicks were also hoping that Kidd could be a mentor to rising star Jeremy Lin if the team decided to bring him back for next season.
Kidd was most recently in trouble with the law back in 2001, where he was charged for domestic assault. He admitted that he hit his wife at that time, but later the charges were dropped as part of his plea.
